Ideas to explore

  • The clearest overall change is the rise in gate capacity from 8 gates at present to 18 after redevelopment.
  • The airport keeps its basic left-right arrangement: departures are on the left and arrivals on the right.
  • The future plan adds passenger services and replaces the walkway with a sky-train connection.

Suggested structure

  1. Paraphrase the task and identify the airport and planned timeframe.
  2. Give an overview of the largest changes, especially the increase in gates and added facilities.
  3. Describe the present terminal arrangement and its connection to the gates.
  4. Explain the future concourse shape, new services and sky-train link.
  5. End with a concise comparison of what stays similar and what changes.

Band 7.0

The plans represent the site of southwest airport now and next year, after redevelopment. Overall, the gates of the airport will increase, while new facilities will be added in both the halls which will be of help to the passengers arriving or departing. The departure entrance is at left as one faces the building. Passport control and customs are shown in the terminal in both layouts, with departures on the left and arrivals on the right. At present, the building has a compact central area and a walkway leading north to eight gates, numbered 1 to 8. Check-in and a café are the only passenger facilities identified in the halls, while security and passport control serve the departure side and passport control and customs are on the arrivals side. After redevelopment, the central walkway will connect to a much larger gate area. The number of gates will rise to 18, arranged along two branches. Check-in and the café will remain, and a bag-drop area will be added to departures. On the arrivals side, passengers will have access to an ATM and car hire. A sky train will also run along the central route towards the gates. Thus, the main changes are the substantial increase in gate capacity and the addition of services, while the two main passenger halls and their left-right arrangement are retained.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Rewrite the overview to name both headline changes directly: the gate total rises from 8 to 18, and passenger facilities are added.
2
Use one consistent spatial reference, such as “on the left for departures” and “on the right for arrivals”, before describing features in each hall.
3
Check every noun that expresses quantity or location: write “the number of gates”, “on the left”, and “in the arrivals hall” rather than using less precise alternatives.
