  • Downloading music and videos shows a clear age-related decline, from 52% among teenagers to 6% among people aged 70 and over.

  2. Give an overview of the most consistent pattern and the clearest age-related change.

Band 8.0

The table illustrates the proportion of individuals across various age groups engaging in different online activities. Overall, email usage remains consistently high across all age demographics, while activities such as online gaming and downloading music or videos are significantly more popular among younger generations. Conversely, older age groups show a greater tendency to utilize the internet for travel reservations, with use peaking at 74% among people in their 30s; rates for those aged 40 and above range from 58% to 65%. Email was the most consistent activity, ranging only from 90% to 95%. Online gaming reached a high of 88% among people in their 20s, then fell sharply to 36% in the 30s. It remained between 20% and 29% in every older group. Downloading music or videos showed a clearer age-related decline, from 52% among teens and 46% in their 20s to just 6% in the 70+ group. Online purchasing was common from the 20s through 60s, at 64–69%, peaking at 69% in the 30s, before dropping to 40% among those aged 70+. Searching for people was the least common activity among teens, at 3%, but reached 30–33% for people in their 20s and 30s and around 25–31% in older groups.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Keep the overview to the strongest broad patterns; move the exact 74% travel-reservation figure into the detailed comparisons.
2
Group the activities by pattern: stable email use, activities that decline with age, and activities that peak in adulthood.
3
Check that each comparison names its age group and figure, especially when describing the contrasting peaks for gaming, downloads and online purchases.
