Band 5.0

The tables shows the details on internet activities in six different categories by age group. Overall,it can be seen that the e-mail is most commonly used among all the age groups and recorded highest among all, while only a few individuals used internet to search for people. The e-mail was similarly prefered among all the age groups, at around 90% or above in every case. It was highest for people in their 50s, at 95%, and lowest for teenagers and those aged 60, at 90%. Online games also attracted a high share of teenagers and people in their 20s (80% and 88%), but the figure fell to 20% among people in their 50s.

By contrast, downloading music and videos declined steadily with age, from 52% of teenagers to just 6% of the 70+ group. Travel reservations were not used by any teenagers, but this activity peaked at 74% among people in their 30s; the proportions for older groups stayed between 58% and 65%. Online shopping was most common among people in their 30s (69%) and least common for teenagers (39%). Searching for people had the lowest figures overall, ranging from 3% among teenagers to 33% in the 30s.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Name the unit in the introduction: these figures are percentages of people in each age group, not counts of individuals.
2
Write a concise overview that contrasts consistently high e-mail use with the low figures for searching for people, then use body paragraphs for the remaining trends.
3
Before submitting, check the single-table reference, subject–verb agreement, spaces after commas and spellings such as “preferred.”
