The information on Internet activities by age group demonstrates quite interesting patterns. First of all, it`s amazing that there is no visible difference between various age groups using e-mail. In contrast, there is a direct dependence between age and online gaming. Young people are more likely to play games online than older ones. A similar pattern can be seen in downloading music and videos, although this activity falls steadily with age, from 52% of teenagers to 6% of people aged 70 and over. Travel reservations show a different trend: the figure is 0% among teens, rises to 51% in the 20s and peaks at 74% in the 30s. It then stays between 58% and 65% in the four older groups. Online purchasing is highest for people in their 30s, at 69%, and remains fairly similar among those in their 20s, 40s, 50s and 60s (64–67%). The rates for teens and the 70+ group are lower, at 39% and 40% respectively. Searching for people is generally uncommon, ranging from 3% among teens to a peak of 33% in the 30s. Overall, e-mail use is consistently high, while gaming and downloading are more popular among younger users. Travel booking and online shopping are comparatively common among adults in their 30s.
