The chart below represents the number of graduates and post graduates and their preferences in the fields other than a full-time work such as part-time work, Voluntary work, further studies and who stays unemployed in the year 2008. We see that over 29,000 graduate students which is the highest number pursue further studies after completing their studies. Overall, further study was by far the most common destination for both groups, while voluntary work was the least common. In each category, graduates recorded higher totals than postgraduates.
For graduates, 29,665 chose further study, compared with 17,735 in part-time work. A further 16,235 were unemployed, while only 3,500 undertook voluntary work. Thus, further study exceeded part-time work by almost 12,000, and unemployment was slightly below part-time work.
Among postgraduates, further study also ranked first, at 2,725, narrowly ahead of part-time work (2,535).
